Discover the coffee process, with a detailed explanation of each stage from cultivation to the delicious cup you’ll enjoy on this tour.
Coffee grows in tropical highlands. The plants produce red cherries that are handpicked when ripe to ensure the best quality beans.
The cherries are pulped, fermented, and washed to remove fruit layers. The beans are then sun-dried until they reach the right moisture level, becoming green coffee beans.
The green beans are roasted to develop flavor and aroma. They are then ground and brewed with hot water, resulting in a rich, aromatic cup of coffee.
Did you know that coffee helped build Costa Rica as we know it today? This bean, known as the “golden grain,” arrived in the country at the beginning of the 19th century and quickly became the engine of the Costa Rican economy.
Thanks to coffee, roads and railways were built, and even public education was promoted. It was our first major export product and a true national treasure. Over the years, coffee farms have been passed down through generations, carefully tending each bean to offer world-class coffee.
Today, visiting Costa Rica also means discovering its traditional coffee shops, touring farms in the mountains, and, of course, enjoying a fresh cup while admiring spectacular landscapes.
